CHOLESTEROL IS ESSENTIAL TO LIFE
Welcome Cholesterol Rich Foods Into Your Diet.
Foods high in saturated fats can help you build a strong immune system and even live longer.
When the liver receives a signal that a wound has been inflicted upon the endothelium somewhere in our vascular system, it sends cholesterol to the site of the damage in the form of Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL) cholesterol. Since this cholesterol travels from the liver to the wound, it was erroneously called “bad” cholesterol, how can something that is going to repair either a hole or thinning vascular system and prevent a stroke be bad? Think about the logic of that. After its mission is accomplished and the wound heals, the cholesterol returns to the liver in the form of High Density Lipoproteins (HDL). HDL was mistakenly called “good” cholesterol, because it took the bad cholesterol back home to the liver.
What you may not know however, is that LDL (which is made in the liver) goes to areas that need to be patched up, repaired by this fatty cholesterol, once the repair is completed by the cholesterol, the ratio changes, and it becomes HDL and travels back to the liver – to start the process over again. SMART – don’t you think?
Explanation:
Cholesterol combines with protein, forming a lipoprotein (lipid + protein). The protein actually coats the cholesterol. When the lipoprotein has more protein than cholesterol, it is a high-density lipoproteins (HDLs), which most of us just call “good” cholesterol. When the lipoprotein has more cholesterol than protein, it is a low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad” cholesterol.
High levels of LDL cholesterol in the blood are indicative of an underlying health problem that needs to be addressed. Your body is very intelligent, it knows what to do when there is a problem, all we need to do is stay out of the way, and especially away from cholesterol lowering drugs. If cholesterol is high, it’s because there is repair work going on somewhere in the body, don’t sabotage this ‘important repair’ by taking drugs.
Is Saturated Fat Good or Bad? — Mostly Good.
It’s not the cholesterol content of animal fats that is a health issue, it’s the high levels of pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics in commercial animal fats that definitely pose a health risk, so choose organic. Never never never consume hydrogenated fats like margarines of any description or vegetable oils. Use only – organic butter, virgin coconut oil (for cooking) & organic cold pressed virgin olive oil.
Cholesterol is a fat-like substance produced by the liver, and present in every cell. It is such an essential part of our physiology, that the body has very efficient mechanisms of producing and regulating cholesterol levels. Did you know that only 20% of cholesterol comes from food, and a whopping 80% of all cholesterol is produced by the body? Cholesterol regulates many vital functions in the body, including brain health and good memory, essential in the production of hormones: testosterone, progesterone, pregnenolone, estrone, corticosterone, aldosterone and more. These hormones regulate our metabolism, energy production, mineral assimilation, brain, muscle, and bone formation, emotional responses and behaviour.
Definition:-
HDL (high density lipoprotein) is the good cholesterol that removes lipids (fat) from your blood stream and transports them to the liver for excretion.
LDL (low density lipoprotein) is the (so called) bad cholesterol, that repairs (patches up) thinning blood vessels, and any small holes that may appear, by it’s deposits of lipids in your blood vessels, as a repair system.
On the molecular level, HDL consists mainly of proteins with very little fat, (because the fat has already been used for repair) whereas LDL consists mainly of fat with very little proteins.
